Slouching Around

Today I am extra tired. I've had a very busy week, which has included a flying visit back home to work a few shifts as I was needed at my old job. I'm never going to complain at the prospect of money coming my way so I was more than willing to help. Unfortunately I have become very unused to the early mornings and having to catch a train back to Southampton at a ridiculous hour this morning certainly did not help, but needs must and all that!

Due to my current weary ways I really didn't fancy making too much of an effort to get dressed this morning, and of course I wanted to be extra comfy for my long train journey. However, even in slouch mode I always feel the need to make some sort of an effort. After all, who wants to leave the house looking like a slob. Even when I'm not feeling my best I always find that a little bit of effort will go some way to making me feel almost human again.

In the end I opted for a check shirt, which I own about ten of yet rarely get round to wearing these days, teamed with a turtle neck crop top and nice comfy cut-off shorts. What's not to like. I also love my hair here, the bob is back with a vengeance. I have to admit that it did not stay this way after I left the house to brave the elements, but it's nice to think it looked passable for a little while!

And Relaaaax

I have so much to be doing right now what with uni work, holding a job down, seeing my boyfriend/friends/family, blogging and freelancing it all seems to be getting a bit mental. At this current moment in time I'm just about keeping my head above water. Hopefully I will be able to maintain this attitude for the following 10 weeks that remain of my degree. Scary times.

Today has been yet another whirlwind, featuring me running around like a headless chicken and frantically ticking things off my to-do list. I've managed to clear a small space in my schedule to devote to writing up a quick blog post, because I couldn't possibly let you all down now, could I.

Due to the fact that I have had to be in ten places at once today I've settled for wearing a floaty maxi skirt. The skirt is both easy to move around in and made of a nice light material, which is just perfect for those moments when your all hot and bothered - and these moments seem to creeping up on me on a regular basis these days (Who said stress was a bad thing?!). I also love the aztec print on the skirt. Prints like these are a great way to jazz up an otherwise boring outfit and make you feel a bit more cheery on such a grey day. I've kept the rest of my outfit simple, teaming the skirt with a white sheer embroidered blouse from Topshop, a belt to cinch in my waist and my black heeled chelsea boots.

Bargain Bin

I've spent the weekend visiting my boyfriend in Plymouth. I'll take any excuse to get out of Southampton for a few days and it's always nice to have a change of scenery. As you may know, Edd is a photographer and so I have taken full advantage of this today by getting him to take a few snaps of me before we went out and about for the day.

This morning we woke up to find the sun shining through the windows. Whenever there is a slight hint of sunshine I always feel the overpowering need to put shorts on - yes I am aware that it's still February but I just can't help myself. Due to the rather underwhelming temperatures down in Plym I teamed my shorts with the thickest pair of tights I could find and added a black and white striped jumper over my sheer shirt.

I picked the jumper up in the Primark sale a couple of days ago for the bargain price of £5 (reduced from £12). The shirt is also another Primark find. I saw something similar in Topshop a few weeks ago and you can only imagine my delight when I noticed this almost identical shirt for a fraction of the price. I found the shoes whilst rummaging around the shops during the January sales. They're from River Island and were marked at half the original price. They were also the only pair in the store and were in my size - it was fate.

Sister Time

Yesterday my younger sister came down for a flying visit. I've been snowed under with uni work recently (perks of being a third year), and was gagging for any form of social interaction or some sort of grasp on a social life, so you can imagine my delight when she came a-knocking on my door.

She had bought us both tickets to a gig at the Joiners for Christmas and was staying down for the evening. She's currently in her final year of Sixth Form so she didn't arrive til late afternoon and had to get the train at 6am this morning in order to get back in time for the start of her lessons. Unfortunately this meant that we didn't have a lot of time to do anything other than go to the gig, but all in all it was a great night and it's always lovely to see her!

As I knew we were going to be heading to the Joiners I was aware that I needed to dress down, the gig was sold out and therefore it was literally ram-packed in there. No room to move, the heat level of a sauna and someones sweaty pit in your face - what more could you possibly want on a Wednesday night. For these very reasons I stuck with a casual and very versatile look of denim Levi shorts, a crop top I'd purchased from Topshop the previous day, flat shoes and a cardigan which was needed for the long wait in the queue.

I am absolutely loving royal blue at the moment, as demonstrated by my outfit. I picked this cardigan up in the H&M sale for a mere £7, reduced from £29.99, such a bargain. The crop top fits in well with the Americana trend and for a less casual statement I would team it with a royal blue/grey midi pencil skirt.

Plum Power

It's a miracle, the sun is still firmly in its place and although it may still be rather chilly out, nothing puts me in a better mood than a blue cloudless sky.

Today all I needed to leave the house for was to stop by uni quickly before heading into town to take a few items of clothing back and run some errands. Unfortunately I also saw this as an opportunity to pick up a few new items, but what more can you expect.

I have been very good recently as far as spending money on clothes goes. I have a huge wardrobe over-stuffed with clothes I have rarely worn, or in some cases have never worn, but I still cannot bring myself to part with anything. Yes, I am a hoarder. Anyway, this week I have decided that each day I will pick something to wear that hasn't seen the light of day in a while in the vein hope that this may help me decide what needs to go and what can stay.

Today I chose to wear this plum coloured skater dress (as you may have noticed from previous outfit posts, I love a good fit and flare dress) from New Look which I think I wore once after I bought it about 18-months ago. I teamed it with a polka dot shirt in the same colour, this was worn underneath the dress to dress it up and make it a slightly more exciting outfit. I added a belt, again in plum (can you spot the theme?), a leaf charm necklace dug out from my large collection of rarely worn necklaces and a pair of slouchy New Look loafers which I managed to find at the bottom of my shoe pile.

Obviously as it is February I needed to wear this Topshop sixties-style light jersey jacket for added warmth.

Here ya have it:

Mono Mono Monochrome

It's been a busy week and consequently I've let my posting slide a little bit. Forgive me, I'm currently trying to keep myself from drowning in my uni work. Anyway, I woke up this morning to find the sun shining through my window, which always makes you feel a bit better about life - especially when extremely hungover on a Sunday - and it gave me a boost of motivation to do an outfit post.

I originally planned to do an outfit post based on what I wore last night. It was my housemates 22nd birthday and so a group of us headed to Grand Cafe for a meal, and although this was a lovely place with amazing food we did feel rather out of place. Basically, we definitely weren't classy enough to be seen in there, but nevertheless I would recommend going there if you fancy splashing out and dressing up - which is always fun, right?! The night quickly descended into us getting rather intoxicated and subsequently not taken any reasonably decent photo's - oops.

So here you have it, a quick outfit I've put together to head into town today. Obviously monochrome is all everyone is banging on about these days, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and see what I could team it with.

More Tartan Please

Here's a phrase I thought I'd never say: I am LOVING all things tartan. Cannot get enough of it right now. I have all manner of things in this weird and wonderful print from scarfs to skirts and today I even decided to venture out in my new tartan dress. I actually had the dress for Christmas but I've been too chicken to break it out ever since. However, seeing as the weather is so damp and dreary I needed something to lift my spirits just a little bit and it seems this dress is just what the doctor ordered. Add into the mix my blossoming love for pinafore dresses and it would seem that I do indeed want to revert back to the nineties child that I once was. Well, one can but dream. .

Seeing as we are braving arctic conditions at the moment, I have teamed the dress with a black sheer shirt (worn underneath), and my ever-present opaque tights. As soon as I put it on I felt like my six-year-old self once again and I really believe that every stressed out third year student should give this dress a whirl, it makes you feel oh so carefree - if only this were try, hey!

All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go

This morning I was rudely awakened by the delivery woman, however I quickly forgave her when I realised she was delivering my new pinafore style dress. I've absolutely fell in love with the pinafore in recent weeks and couldn't wait to get my hands on one. To my delight, as I was browsing the internet yesterday I found one in the Boohoo sale for a mere £10 (£9 with student discount). This was a bargain I could not miss, so obviously I ordered it immediately.

It came this morning and I have spent the day thinking of an excuse to break it out. Unfortunately, due to the copious amounts of work I have to do this weekend I am under self-inflicted house arrest and have promised myself I will not, under any circumstances, leave my confines. So instead, I've dressed this outfit up showing you how I have decided to style it next time I get the chance to wear it. I'm now on the look out for a denim one ready for the summer.

Again, sorry for the terrible pictures - still waiting on that camera!

Friday Feeling

So I'm off on my way into town before stopping off at uni for a seminar. We all know how tempting it is to roll out of the house wearing the t-shirt you slept in and pair of leggings when you've got uni, especially when hungover on a Friday. But I've tried my very best to make an effort this afternoon, after all you look good, you feel good - right?!

So here's what I've thrown together today. A purple and burgundy tartan skirt a la Primark teamed with a black sheer blouse, opaque tights and some black studded ankle boots. Perfect for a chilly winter day.

I'll apologise in advance for the awful webcam pictures but unfortunately my camera has decided to die on me this morning, which is never ideal.

Cinema Date

Been to the cinema tonight to see Django Unchained with my boyfriend, after all it is a half price Wednesday and I'm a girl who loves a bargain so why not! Thought I'd post up a quick OOTD to show you all what I decided to wear for my little week night date. The shirt I picked up in Primark for the bargain price of £5 in the sale a couple of months ago, I love the print on it - just perfect to dress up a casual pair of jeans or leggings. I've teamed it with a pair of grey skinnies (also from Primark, can't go wrong at £12?!) and my cherished heeled chelsea boots.

Bristol Photo Shoot

So yesterday I decided to leave Southampton for a little trip to the beautifully exciting city of Bristol. Now I wasn't just gallivanting off for no reason, I was there to interview the lovely Emily and Jess, the founders of inspirational wedding blog, Bespoke Bride. The girls were in the midst of a photo shoot for the launch of their new website 'The Online Wedding Show'.

Last night's shoot, photographed by Edd Taylor, was based in the wonderfully trendy vintage and antique furniture shop Dig Haushizzle (if you wish to read my previous post on them click here), which I have to say offered the perfect backdrop for the girls - simply amazing.  The end result was great and I cannot wait to see the final images - I'm sure everyone involved is equally excited in their anticipation of these! And although we ran out of time for an actual interview this will instead take place next week.

For now, here's a couple of 'behind-the-scenes' snaps taken by myself (sorry for the crappy phone quality) and Cass at Dig Haushizzle.

Pickle Power

Last night I attended 'FranFest' - the birthday celebrations of my beautiful friend Francesca Bartha. For the festival themed house party myself and my housemate Sam decided to do something slightly different as, quite frankly, I didn't fancy turning up in the standard festival uniform of hotpants and a crop top, wellies optional. Instead we opted for a slightly different take on fancy dress, basically we went dressed as giant pickled gherkins, naming ourselves 'Team Pickle' - just don't ask.

I'm not going to explain this idea too much, but basically we enjoy a nice pickle now and again and we thought we'd spread the joy through the medium of FranFest. We certainly achieved our aim, everyone was definitely loving our efforts, myself included. I'm surprised at how much I got involved with the arts and crafts to be honest.

So here ya go, some lovely pictures of our evening dressed as pickles.

Well, I had to take the costume off at some point!

What have you all been up to this weekend, can you top my pickle story?

Missguided Goodies

Thought I'd let you all know what I've been treating myself to this week. I'm not usually one to shop on Missguided but, as I have quickly realised, they are just so cheap - especially when it comes to crop tops. Crop tops have fast become my go-to basic to wear with anything and everything with a high-waisted cut, so you can see why I was to drawn to these bargains.

Missguided Goodies

From Top Left to Bottom Right:

So I got all this for just over £40 which meant I was also eligible for free next day delivery - which I most probably would have paid for anyway as I absolutely hate having to wait for goodies when ordering them on the internet. When I buy something I want it and I want it NOW.

Along with these gorge crop tops I also came a across a pair of denim style disco pants when browsing the 'leggings' section. Now, in the picture I think they look amazing and I've been after a pair of high-waisted jeans for a long, long time, however I'm slightly afraid they may turn up and look completely different. I really don't want them to be a jegging type material as I'm not the biggest fan of this item of clothing. But we shall see when they arrive in the morning!

Can I also mention how beautiful the off the shoulder number is. I have fallen in love with this style and cannot wait to see what it looks like when I try it on. I may even have to go back and order this in the berry shade (my absolute fave colour) and the black.

What have you all been treating yourselves to this week?
